Garlic bread is that one food you can always get away with adding to any meal. The crunchy, golden bread, combined with fresh garlic and bubbling melted cheese is the ultimate comfort food, especially this fall season.
Just think of all the pairings you could make with this simple recipe. Pair it with your favourite soup or pasta dish and feel like you've fed your stomach and your soul with something so simple yet so beautifully delicious. This cheesy garlic bread is gluten-free and lactose-free, however you are more than welcome to modify it to fit your personal preference or allergies. The simplicity of this recipe is what makes it so delicious!
INGREDIENT NOTES
- GF baguette: You can use any gluten-free bun or baguette but I used the ciabatta baguette from Schiroso Gluten Free Foods and it came out so perfect and crunchy.
- Garlic butter: I wrapped a bundle of garlic in tin foil and let it roast and soften in the oven. You can then squeeze out the softened garlic onto the bread and spread it like butter. I personally like to add some vegan butter just to make sure the garlic is applied evenly throughout the baguette halves.
- Cheese: As always, you are more than welcome to use vegan, dairy-free or lactose-free mozzarella depending on your preference or allergy. When it comes to cheese, it really depends on what I'm making but usually for garlic bread, I love using lactose-free cheese.
- Parsley: I used dried parsley flakes because it was all I had at home, however fresh parsley would be absolutely delicious and I recommend making the grocery trip to grab it.

Prep Time: 5 min Bake Time: 15 min Total Time: 20 min
INGREDIENTS
1 gluten-free baguette
1 bundle of garlic
Vegan butter
Lactose-free or dairy-free cheese
Dried parsley
INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove your frozen ciabatta baguette from the freezer and let it thaw completely. This may take anywhere from 4-8 hours.
- Once the baguette is thawed, preheat the oven to 450º F.
- With a bread knife, horizontally slice the bread all the way through the middle, creating two long halves of your ciabatta baguette. Place them on a baking sheet.
- Cut off the head of a bundle of garlic, drizzle some olive oil and wrap it in tinfoil. Place that on the same baking sheet as the bread and bake them in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
- Once the bread is crispy and crunchy, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool for 5 min. Remove the garlic from the tinfoil and squeeze the softened garlic onto the bread. Spread evenly on both halves.
- Cover both baguette halves in the softened garlic, and I like to add a little vegan butter as well just to make the garlic spread smoother. Add your choice of dairy-free or lactose-free mozzarella, some dried parsley flakes and broil on high for about 1 minute.
- Remove garlic bread from the oven and cut into pieces. Enjoy it with your favourite soup or pasta, or just enjoy that cheese pull all on its own!
