If you have a preferred gluten-free flour, feel free to use it, but the Queen St Bakery option adds a unique twist to the final product.

  • Vegan Almond Yogurt: Silk's Almond Yogurt takes center stage in this naan recipe as the dairy-free, plant-based alternative that adds both moisture and the perfect thickness to form the dough. This yogurt is known for its creamy texture and dairy-free goodness, making it a suitable choice for vegan and lactose-intolerant individuals. While I recommend Silk's Almond Yogurt, you can experiment with other vegan yogurt options, keeping in mind that the choice may influence the final taste and texture.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/4 cup Queen St. Bakery Superfood Baking Gluten-Free Flour
  • 1 cup Silk's vegan almond yogurt

Garlic Butter (optional)

  • 3 tbsp melted vegan butter 
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced 
  • 1 tbsp dried or fresh parsley 
  • Olive oil 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 1/4 cup of gluten-free flour and 1/2 cup of vegan almond yogurt. Mix and knead the ingredients together until a smooth dough ball is formed.
  2. Flour a clean surface and divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll out each mini dough ball into a naan-like shape using a rolling pin. Aim for a thickness that suits your preference.
  3. Add a little olive oil to a heated pan over medium heat.
  4. Place one rolled-out dough in the pan and cook each side for 1-2 minutes or until you see golden brown specks. Repeat the process for the remaining pieces of dough, adding more oil to the pan if needed.
  5. This step is optional; in a separate pan, melt 3 tbsp of vegan butter, add minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté until fragrant. Stir in 1 tbsp of dried or fresh parsley and mix well.Once all the naans are cooked, brush the melted vegan butter mixture over the top of each naan.
  6. Plate the naans and serve them warm. Enjoy your delicious 2-ingredient gluten-free and vegan naan!
